Alchemy Brewing in Kamloops wins best wings in town contest

Alchemy Brewing Company in Kamloops has won the ‘best wings in town’ Facebook competition.

The runner up was Central Station Pub and in third place the Fox’n Hounds.

What is the secret behind Alchemy’s winning wings?

“Most of the barbecue we do is stuff I came up with,” owner Al Renner said. “Smoked wings are definitely ones we always want to offer. They are lightly smoked. We are still able to fry them so they are crispy but still with smoked flavour. They get rubbed with our special in-house chicken wing rub.”

Renner says at one point there were 30 different flavours of wings to choose from. He has since scaled back, due in part to Covid-19 restrictions.

“It has been a challenge to keep doing this kind of stuff, especially with the food supply being an issue and costs going up,” Renner said. “Like everybody else, we have faced challenges with restrictions. There have been staffing and financial challenges. But, we are still hanging in there.”

Renner says he and his wife and co-owner, Shantel Renner, are thankful for their regular customers and will keep doing their best to offer amazing smoked wings.
