iN VIDEO: Tempest Theatre Living the Dream

The Tempest Theatre completed their production of “Dream” on Sunday. Director Kate Twa brought new life to Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.

The production went the extra mile to visit Naramata’s Van Westen Vineyards. On the vineyard currently sits a historic site called The Naramata Home Theatre, a 100-year-old building that was one of BC and Canada’s earliest theatre production buildings. The theatre was short-lived, as it was built above a fruit-packing facility in the 1920s, and the market crashed. Unable to sustain itself, the building sat dormant for years.

The production team and a crew of volunteers took it upon themselves to clean up the building and help restore it to be able to perform in. The newly named “Village Theatre” was up and running again after some much-needed love and held a week’s worth of performances and will likely host again.

After the week of performances, Tempest held another week of performances at their theatre in Penticton.
