Kelowna’s Sperling Vineyards wins gold for Riesling

KELOWNA – In the 2019 Decanter Wine Awards, seven gold awards were awarded for non-icewines in Canada.

The Sperling Vineyards Old Vines Riesling 2015 was the only Gold medal winning still wine from B.C.

Sperling Vineyards is one of the oldest plantings in Canada. The land on which it sits was cleared in 1860, then the vines were planted in the 1920s. It was the site of commercial wine and table grape production until 1978, when the Riesling Weiss Family cl. 21 was established.

Ann and Susan Sperling and their partners continue the legacy today, producing vintages that have garnered international attention.
