WEST KELOWNA – West Kelowna Fire Rescue (WKFR) will be conducting training in the forested hills above the Rose Valley and Tallus Ridge neighbourhoods over the next seven weeks.
Residents may observe fire personnel and apparatus heading into the forest every Tuesday night for the next little while, but shouldn’t be alarmed as it means that full time and paid-on-call firefighters are receiving training in fighting forest fires.
Real fires will not be part of this training so, as always, residents are encouraged to call 911 if they observe smoke in the forest.
The fire hazard rating is high and residents are encouraged to be extremely cautious in forested areas. Residents should have a plan for when an emergency or evacuation occurs.
