Agrocorp’s Canadian headquarters moving to Moose Jaw, Sask., from Vancouver

MOOSE JAW, Sask. – A major grain processing company is moving its headquarters to Saskatchewan early next year.

Agrocorp Processing is moving its head office from Vancouver to Moose Jaw, where the company has a high-speed grain loading and cleaning facility.

The company expects to add 20 new jobs over the next three years as a result of the move.

Premier Brad Wall said Monday that attracting head offices of companies has been a priority of his government, adding that a tax incentive is in place to encourage the move.

“In this particular space … it’s a large number of jobs,” said Wall. “It’s very important to Moose Jaw and very important to the province that we continue to be agricultural leaders and have corporate offices as well as these great handling and processing facilities.”

He met the chairman of Singapore-based Agrocorp during an Asian trade mission and encouraged the company to invest in Saskatchewan.

Agrocorp has a long-history of buying Canadian grains, pulses, oilseeds and specialty crops.

Last year, the company exported 1.75 million tonnes of Canadian pulses, grains,and oilseeds.

Agrocorp has four processing plants in Canada. The Moose Jaw high-speed pulse handling facility opened in 2013 and cost $20 million.
