Attorney: Woman accused of dismembering husband was abused

AKRON, Ohio – A defence attorney says an Ohio woman accused of fatally shooting her husband in the head and dismembering his body had suffered physical and mental abuse in the relationship.

Authorities say 49-year-old Marcia Eubank told investigators that she shot 54-year-old Howard Eubank and put his remains in several containers around their home near Akron. She was arrested after their son found the remains in early December.

She was indicted on charges including aggravated murder, corpse abuse and evidence-tampering in the death of Howard Eubank.

Defence attorney Brian Pierce says Marcia Eubank will plead not guilty at arraignment next Friday in Summit County court. Pierce says Eubank will be evaluated by mental health professionals to help with her defence.

The couple had been married for about 25 years.
