Homeless man finds $2K on Vancouver Island street, brings it to RCMP
LANGFORD, B.C. – Police say a homeless man has turned in more than $2,000 that he found on a street on southern Vancouver Island.
The man, who is in his 60s, recently found the cash in Langford, B.C., and brought it to the RCMP detachment.
Mounties say it's unusual for such a large amount of money to be turned in, but the man's situation makes it even more surprising.
They say he realized the money belonged to someone and handed it over because he felt like it was the right thing to do.
Const. Alex Bérubé says the man will be rewarded for his honesty by getting to keep the money if no one claims it within 90 days.
Anyone doing so will have to provide specific details about the amount, denominations and where the cash was found.

Mark Matthews not sure if your comment of “shallow” was aimed at me or at the author of the article.If it was aimed at me, I think you misunderstood what I said.My issue was with assumption that because someone is “homeless” they would have less integrity.I worked in the downtown eastside for many years and still work in poverty law.I have nothing but respect for the strength it take to survive when doors seem to be slamming in your face one after the other.
Seriously. Try being homeless. That takes 100 times more integrity and should only be recognized as a huge Statement. Way too shallow of thinkin.

Why is it more difficult to believe that this man turned in the money because of “his circumstances”?I find that comment very judgemental.Whether this man is “homeless” or the CEO of a company, our values drive our choices.I am glad to hear that he will receive a reward and potentially the entire amount if not claimed as he certainly needs it more than the CEO of a company.
