RCMP, SPCA investigating woman accused of dragging puppy behind moving vehicle
OKANAGAN – After news of four Kelowna women who rescued a puppy that was injured while being pulled behind a moving vehicle in Oliver last week, the SPCA and RCMP have begun a joint investigation into possible animal cruelty.
On Friday, June 12 at around 7:30 p.m., four women from Kelowna were on a wine tour in Oliver when they saw a woman and two kids driving a vehicle down Road 22. A small puppy tied to a rope was being pulled along behind.
The women intervened and took the dog to a vet clinic where 'Vino', a Red Heeler pup roughly eight weeks old, was treated for wounds to all four paws.
Corinne Ross, spokesperson for the South Okanagan SPCA, says they are investigating in conjunction with Penticton RCMP.
“I have spoken to the lady who is charge of cruelty investigations in the Oliver area and she is looking into it,” she says. “It has been reported to the RCMP.”
Calls to Penticton RCMP were not returned but Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Joe Duncan says police will follow up on any recommendations made by the SPCA and if appropriate, pursue charges. He urges the public to remain calm and let the authorities handle the investigation.
Vino is currently with her rescuers, who say they plan to keep him.

Perhaps child protective services should check on how this imbecile is treating her children . She was teaching them to abuse animals when the women rescued that poor puppy!,,

This woman should never ever be able to have a pet. Ever,. Her parenting skills should be looked at also. What is she teaching her kids. She needs to be in jail.

Thank you Adam for continuing to follow this story. If you are in contact with the rescuers at any time please pass on my thanks and tell them that Vino will repay them with more love and devotion than they could ever believe possible. It takes a special kind of courage to do what they did.Having the courage to act on your convictions is becoming a rare commodity in our indifferent world.

How can anyone be so cruel? If you don’t like your pet surrender it to a shelter so someone who can love can adopt it. Simple.
