Concealed shotgun discovered at Penticton court house

PENTICTON – It's unknown what his intent was but the watchful eye of a Sheriff may have stopped a potentially serious incidents at the Penticton Law Courts Monday after a man was found carrying a concealed shotgun.

Penticton RCMP say a man and woman entered the Penticton court house yesterday around noon. The man was carrying a DeWalt toolbox, acting in a suspicious manner that caught the attention of a sheriff.

The sheriff began monitoring the man’s movements in the court house.

The two realized they were being watched and left the building. The man went to some bushes near the court house and kicked the box into the shrubs, all the while under the watchful eye of the sheriff, who retrieved the case.

Inside was a sawed-off shotgun, loaded, with at least 10 additional rounds in the case.

The sheriff went looking for the man, but he had disappeared.

Police were notified, and have since identified the pair through the court’s video system.

Warrants are out for the two suspects, who are known to police.

Police are not releasing the names of the suspects at this time.
