Alleged drunk driver loses control, almost goes over embankment near Kelowna

KELOWNA – A local man suspected of drunk driving without a valid driver’s licence was arrested in Kelowna last night after he lost control of his car near Postill Lake Road around 8:30 p.m.

According to Cpl. Joe Duncan the 32-year-old Kelowna man was behind the wheel of his 1989 Mustang last night, Aug. 5, when he skidded off the road near Farmers Drive and came to rest with the front of the vehicle hanging over what Duncan describes as 'a large embankment.'

He says the man was able to get himself out of the car and was not injured but he was arrested and taken into custody. An investigation was conducted and the man was found to be driving without a licence. He faces potential charges of driving while prohibited and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

He will appear in court on Jan. 7, 2016.
