Saskatchewan man who died jumping off houseboat in Mara Lake identified

SICAMOUS – The Saskatchewan man who died after jumping off a houseboat in Mara Lake Tuesday has been identified.

The B.C. Coroners Service confirms the man who died was Scott Kevin Hardy Glen, aged 24, of Saskatoon, Sask.

Glen was staying with friends on a rental houseboat moored at a marina at Mara Lake near Sicamous. In the early morning hours of Aug. 4, he and a friend went left the deck of the houseboat to go swimming and Glen did not resurface.

The friends immediately called for help but were unable to locate him. The RCMP dive team and Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue team recovered the body not far from the houseboat in about 15 metres of water later in the morning.

RCMP said alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The B.C. Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
