Officials say 2 people dead in plane crash in Tennessee

COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. – A small plane crashed Saturday in Tennessee, killing two of the people on board and injuring two others, officials said.

The single-engine engine plane crashed around 12:50 p.m. as it was coming in to the Collegedale airport, Tonya Salder, a spokeswoman for the Collegedale Police said. Collegedale is a city about 20 miles east of Chattanooga.

All four victims were on the plane, she said, and the two survivors were airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center. At least one of the survivors was in critical condition and had gone into surgery, Sadler said.

The names of the victims and they city they flew in from will not be released until the relatives are notified.

Sadler said she did not know if anyone else outside the plane was injured or if there was property damaged in the crash. Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration are on their way to the scene, she said.
