WEST KELOWNA – A natural gas leak has forced people out of their homes in West Kelowna this afternoon.

The gas leak has forced the evacuation of several homes in the 500-block of Anders Road and the commercial area on Ollala Road, including the West Kelowna fire station, today, Aug. 31.

No one was hurt.

“At approximately 1:50 p.m. a four-inch gas line was struck during construction work on Anders Road by a private contractor,” city spokesperson Kirsten Jones says in a media release.

Jones isn’t sure how long the repair will take.
