Group protests fatal DC police shooting
WASHINGTON – The family and friends of a man who was fatally shot by D.C. police have staged a protest to call for answers in his death.
Media outlets report that about 40 people gathered before dawn Monday at a busy intersection in northwest Washington to protest the shooting of 31-year-old Terrence Sterling.
Sterling was shot on the morning of Sept. 11 after police say he purposely rammed a police car with his motorcycle after a traffic stop.
Police have said the officer who fired didn’t turn his body camera on until after the shooting. He and the other officer involved have been placed on administrative leave.
At the protest, organizer Thomas Ruffin Jr. said demonstrators want the names of the officers involved to be released, as well as their immediate dismissal.
