Ten taken to the Osoyoos drunk tank on Canada Day

OSOYOOS – Osoyoos RCMP were busy on Canada day sweeping several publicly intoxicated people off the street.

A total of ten people spent the night in the drunk tank with nine arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and one for domestic assault. Of the nine, one man was charged with obstruction and issued an expulsion letter, banning the person from entering any town beaches or facilities until the end of September.

Police also seized small quantities of marijuana after a few people were seen using it in public view.

One man arrested for public intoxication was caught while shooting off personal fireworks at Gyro Beach prior to the town fireworks display.
