EDMONTON – Alberta is reporting its first case of a severe vaping-related lung illness. The Public Health Agency of Canada’s website lists 14 previous cases across the country from May until November 2019:
British Columbia — 3
New Brunswick — 2
Ontario — 4
Quebec — 5
Of those 14 cases, eleven people required admission to hospital.
Seven cases involved women and the other seven men.
Three patients were between the ages of 15 and 19, four were 20 to 34, and three were 40 to 49.
Alberta Health has declined to provide an age or a gender in the province’s case, citing patient privacy.
