ISLAMABAD – Police in Pakistan’s capital have arrested a U.S. Embassy security officer for allegedly obstructing an investigation into an accident involving an embassy vehicle.
Officer Mohammad Yousuf says two motorcyclists were injured when their motorcycle hit the embassy car Sunday night. He says the motorcyclists were at fault in the accident.
Yousuf said Monday security officer Taimur Iqbal was arrested after he “physically attempted” to stop police from taking the vehicle and its driver, Chad Auburn, to a police station.
An embassy spokesman offered no comment.
A doctor at the hospital where the two motorcyclists were taken said they were discharged after being treated for minor injuries.
Earlier in April, Col. Joseph Emanuel Hall, a diplomat at the embassy, struck a Pakistani motorcyclist in Islamabad, killing one person and injuring another.
