Help these local musicians win the chance of a lifetime

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – Your vote could help a local artist win over $100,000 and some serious musical cred.

The B.C. Peak Performance Project opens up the public voting portion of its contest today, Oct. 16. Online voting runs until Oct. 23.

Two artists from around the Thompson-Okanagan are in the running this year: Vernon’s Corey Myraas of Windmills and Kamloops’ Van Damsel.

They represent two of 12 bands selected in May 2015 to participate in the project. Each artist got the opportunity to expand their skills at a bootcamp and each is vying for one of three prizes to help kickstart their careers: $102,700 for first place, $75,000 for second, and $50,000 for third.

The 2015 Peak Performance Project marks the last round of a seven-year, $5.29 million program designed to kick start the music careers of three artists annually.

Artists will earn points based on the percentage of votes they get from the public, and the results will be used to form part of their overall assessment.
