Court sells Mandy and Me farm to highest bidder
WEST KELOWNA – Things didn’t go the way Silverado Socrates was hoping in court.
Socrates is the owner of Mandy and Me Trailriding in West Kelowna. Her bank foreclosed on her mortgage after loaning her $600,000 to upgrade the facility. On Wednesday, Nov. 4 she watched as a Supreme Court Justice read the winning bid for her five acre property off Petterson Road.
She was hoping one of her friends’ bids would be enough to take it, but that wasn’t the case.
“Seems I am given less than a month to vacate,” she says. “I was told they want to start renovations right away.”
Socrates says she has not been explicitly told she can’t stay yet, but the court order says she has until Dec. 5 to clear the property where she has lived the last 34 years.
“I wish folk could realize this is a place, a herd and a person worth investing in,” she says.
Socrates now has to confront the daunting task of moving or finding homes for her 15 treasured horses she used to take tourists and locals on nature walks as well as to treat disabled children and adults.
“I have always been open to sharing my house with folk,” she says. “To lose it seems so senseless.”

This is too bad…many birthday parties and memories there..too bad we hear about this only because she lost it…..maybe help for her somehow could have been given if only it was news before…

She didn’t get swindled she wasted all her money on an office downtown kelowna that she did not need and many other crazy ideas like a limo when she wasn’t even licenced to drive one , she wouldn’t use the money she made on buying hay or medical for her horses. I’m happy she will no longer be able to run that disgrace of a place. I was there for a month and she was never there to take care of her horses, the people she was “helping” she treated like crap. She would beg people to give her money or buy her hay when I was there and she would make hundreds in one day for trail rides. Neighbors and random people called the spca on her multiple times and yet the spca did nothing so you would think it was a false accusation but the horses were sick and the hoof rot was disturbing, she would treat it once then still use these poor horses to carry people all day long. I took plenty of pictures to prove the horses needed help and I’m only hoping those horses will find a better home and not be auctioned off to be slaughtered. I have so many stories that I could go on for days but I just ask no one feel sorry for her, she did this to herself.
