GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Air travellers in the Grand Rapids area can give their pocket coins to charity before going through a security line.
Gerald R. Ford International Airport is adding coin boxes where travellers can drop their money instead of putting it in a bowl and then scrambling to retrieve it after a security check. The money will go to Mel Trotter Ministries in Grand Rapids and be matched by Lake Michigan Credit Union.
Airport chief executive Jim Gill says the coin boxes will reduce the time spent in line and also support homeless people.
Mel Trotter Ministries says it’s grateful for the partnership.
