TORONTO – Norbord Inc. says it is reducing production at an oriented strand board mill in Cordele, Ga., due to poor market conditions.
One line at the two-line mill will operate on a reduced schedule starting on Sept. 5.
The Toronto-based company says U.S. homebuilding has been pulling back since the fall of last year and that has meant lower-than-anticipated OSB demand.
The Cordele mill has total stated annual production capacity of 1,040 million square feet.
The reduced production schedule will affect approximately 12 per cent of the mill’s available capacity.
Norbord has 17 plant locations in the United States, Canada and Europe.
