CHICAGO – A police spokeswoman says two officers were hospitalized after a man set himself and a building on fire during a Chicago street festival.
Officer Michelle Tannehill tells The Associated Press the officers were being treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The man also was in custody at a hospital, and the extent of his injuries wasn’t immediately known.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. in the southwestern part of the city a few blocks from the National Museum of Mexican Art.
Letricia Sandoval tells the Chicago Tribune she was working at a drink stand at the Mole de Mayo festival. Her daughter said she saw a man in his underwear and an American flag set a store on fire and run away.
