ROANOKE, Va. – Authorities say a Virginia police officer fatally shot a man who had fired at a woman he was arguing with.
Roanoke police said in a news release that an officer who was responding to an unrelated call Wednesday night saw a woman and an armed man fighting on the front porch of a home.
Investigators say the officer ordered the man to drop his weapon, but the man refused and fired at the woman, who was walking away.
Police say the officer shot the man, killing him. The woman involved was not shot, and the officer was not injured.
Virginia State Police, who are investigating the shooting, identified the man as 31-year-old Victor D. Bray. Authorities did not immediately release the name of the officer or races of those involved.
