Driver ticketed after fleeing the scene of Vernon crash

VERNON – The mystery behind a car crash last week in which the driver fled the scene has been solved.

RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says a witness reported seeing the vehicle leave the road and go into the ditch around 10:50 p.m., Nov. 27. The driver was then seen fleeing the scene.

Emergency responders found the vehicle down an embankment in the area of Bella Vista Road and Orchard Hill Road, but couldn’t locate the driver.

“RCMP investigated and located the 44-year-old male driver a short time later at his residence,” Noseworthy says. “He was issued a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.”

She adds no further information is being released and the RCMP investigation is now concluded.
