West Kelowna musician reunited with stolen trumpets

VERNON – A Vernon Good Samaritan is behind the reunion yesterday, Dec. 6, between a West Kelowna man and his two stolen trumpets.

RCMP say the musician’s horns were stolen from his parked vehicle in the 2700 block of 32 Street in Vernon during the evening of Nov. 23, 2015.

The two trumpets, a silver Bach Stradivarius and brass plated Getzen Flueget Horn, were in case found by an unidentified man working at a construction site in the 3200 block of 25 Avenue, according to a RCMP media release.

“(He) noticed the instrument case wedged in a space under the sidewalk,” Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in the release. “When he pulled the case out, he found both horns inside.”

Noseworthy says both horns have great sentimental value to the owner, especially the silver trumpet, which he was owned for 25 years.

The instruments’ owner, who police have not identified, is thankful to the man who turned the instruments into the Vernon RCMP detachment.
