WASHINGTON – Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Europe next week, visiting Georgia and Ukraine before meeting up with President Barack Obama at a NATO summit in Poland.
The State Department said Thursday that Kerry would be in Tbilisi on July 6 for meetings with top Georgian government and opposition party officials. He will then travel to Kyiv for meetings with Ukrainian leaders on July 7 expected to focus on the implementation of an agreement to end the conflict in eastern Ukraine, the department said.
From Kyiv, Kerry will fly to Warsaw where he will accompany Obama to the NATO summit.
