Victims of West Kelowna assault were mistaken for someone else

WEST KELOWNA – A West Kelowna couple seriously injured after being assaulted in their homes last week were not the intended targets.

RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter and an assault in the 1100 block of Peak Point Drive just before 2 a.m. on Dec. 6. The 59-year-old residents suffered 'serious injuries' and one remains in hospital.

"Investigators have only spoken to one of the victims," Duncan says, adding they now believe the assault and break and enter is related to a second break and enter that happened the next night at the house next door. "Investigators believe (the victims) were mistaken for someone else. There is no evidence it was random."

Duncan could not say what was taken in the second theft but the investigation continues.
