TORONTO – An unauthorized exhibition featuring the work of mysterious British graffiti artist Banksy is headed to Toronto.

Organizers say “The Art of Banksy” will make its North American premiere in the city on June 13 at 213 Sterling Rd.

Banksy’s former agent, Steve Lazarides, curated the exhibit.

It features more than 80 original works worth over $35 million and is billed as “the largest Banksy exhibit ever assembled.”

Among the pieces is the famous painting known as “Girl and Balloon.”

The show also has the “Laugh Now” piece depicting a monkey with a sign hanging from his neck.

Banksy, whose identity remains a secret and does not appear in public, is also a social activist and filmmaker.

His evocative graffiti art pops up unexpected in locations around the world.

“The Art of Banksy” exhibit has already travelled to Melbourne, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv and Auckland, New Zealand.

It’s expected to be in Toronto for four weeks.

Starvox Exhibits, in association with Live Nation, will present it in the city.

“This is a one of a kind exhibition. You will never again have the opportunity to see this many of Banksy’s works in one place,” Lazarides said in a statement.

“Once the exhibition is over, the artwork will be returned to art collectors around the world, and the chances that they will be displayed together again in the future are extremely slim.”
