Man who forced flight diversion to Oklahoma to be freed

TULSA, Okla. – A man whose screaming and threatening a flight attendant aboard a Delta Air Lines flight prompted an emergency landing in Oklahoma will be released to his parents pending trial.

Court documents show 29-year-old Bolutife Olorunda of Vancouver, Washington, pleaded not guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Tulsa to interference with flight crew members and attendants.

The Tulsa World reports a federal magistrate said Olorunda will remain in custody until his parents take him to their home in Indiana. He must surrender his passport and stay away from airports.

Jail records show Olorunda is still in custody Thursday.

An affidavit alleges Olorunda was loudly singing and screaming during a May 30 flight from Portland, Oregon, to Atlanta, leading the pilot to declare an emergency and divert to Tulsa.
