Bike to Work Week loss equals silly ride for council

PENTICTON — Acting mayor Garry Litke will strap on a costume and ride a tandem bike with city manager Annette Antoniak in front of city hall Wednesday at 10 a.m. At least one will wear a chicken head.

Development director Anthony Haddad said once again the city was beaten by the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen in the Bike to Work Week competition. This is the closest they came this year but the regional district still had them beat by a healthy margin.

In previous years former mayor Dan Ashton pedaled a tiny tricycle and a penny-farthing bicycle. For this year's outing Litke and Antoniak will wear costumes. One might be a head to toe chicken outfit. It was rumoured the other one might resemble a deer.
