Bride, groom show up at hospital to visit injured grandma

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – When her grandmother broke her hip the day before her destination wedding, the bride and groom showed up at the hospital to surprise her.

Kasey Samuels says Rita Scanlon “was pretty much in tears” when Samuels and her groom Tyler showed up at Sacred Heart Hospital in Florida’s Panhandle dressed in wedding attire. She says her grandmother knew they’d visit, but didn’t expect they’d arrive in a wedding gown and tuxedo.

The Northwest Florida Daily News reports Scanlon slipped and fell in her condo on Friday just before the rehearsal dinner. She called her son, John, who is Kasey’s father. He called Samuels, who is a nurse in Dallas. She sprinted to the condo and called for help.

John Scanlon will stay in Florida as his mother recovers.
