Three remain in hospital after Toronto bus overturns on New Jersey exit ramp

WAYNE, N.J. – Three people remain in a U.S. hospital today after their tour bus from Toronto to New York overturned on a New Jersey exit ramp, injuring nearly two dozen passengers.

A spokeswoman at St. Joseph’s Healthcare System in New Jersey confirmed the remaining patients are in “fair condition.” She could not say when they might be released.

Twenty-three people — including two children — were taken to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries after the packed bus flipped over and landed on its side on an interstate exit ramp in Wayne, N.J., on Saturday morning.

Several others received medical attention at the scene.

The chartered bus was carrying a number of people who were headed to an annual convention held by the Grenada New York Adventist Organization.

A New Jersey newspaper reported that the driver of the bus, who suffered a gash on his arm, told police that he had been cut off by another vehicle just prior to the crash.
