In nod to medium’s fluidity, writer Ivan Brandon touts new titles, direction for Offset Comics

PHILADELPHIA – Offset is more than comics, it’s a laboratory.

That, says boss Ivan Brandon, is why he sees the endeavour as more a “giant, amorphous experiment” that tackles storytelling from a “100 per cent creative declination” and discards the traditional and logistical rules of entertainment.

Instead of publishing stories based on paper size and publishing costs, Offset is pushing decisions based less on “how it’s always been done, but rather how we’d like to do it.”

The imprint is making its debut at New York Comic Con this week, touting three offerings — “Destroy,” ”Doublecross” and “Deathface” — with more on the horizon.

Brandon, who’s written for Marvel and DC, says Offset is a chance to get beyond the habits and rules of accepted story telling in comics.
