Rewards of $20,000 offered in fire that destroyed $1M in logs in B.C.
QUESNEL, B.C. – Rewards of up to $20,000 are being offered to help solve a suspicious fire that destroyed about $1 million worth of logs and equipment at a log storage site near Quesnel, B.C., in May.
The RCMP say the Nazko First Nation and West Fraser Timber are each offering rewards of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the fire.
The blaze destroyed about 4,000 cubic meters of wood and a piece of heavy equipment.
No one was reported hurt and the fire remains under investigation by the RCMP.
Police say anyone seeking to claim the reward would not remain anonymous and may have to testify in court, but people can also call Crimestoppers and remain anonymous, adding that Crimestoppers pays up to $2,000 in rewards for information leading to an arrest.
