BAR HARBOR, Maine – Park officials say visits to Maine’s only national park are on pace to exceed the total visits from 2017.
Acadia National Park officials say the number of visits is estimated to be slightly ahead for July and August of this year compared to last year. The Bangor Daily News reports the park estimated nearly 760,000 visits for both months — the two most consistently busy months for the park.
Park spokeswoman Christie Anastasia says the park has seen a 2.3 uptick in visitors this year overall.
September and October also will have to be busy for the park if 2018’s visit total is going to exceed the record figure set last year. In 2017, an unusually warm and dry fall encouraged people to get outside and visit the park.
