Canada’s Murray pours in 30 points to lead World Team to win at Hoop Summit
PORTLAND, Ore. – Jamal Murray of Kitchener, Ont., poured in 30 points and was named game MVP in leading the World Team to a 103-101 victory over USA in the Nike Hoop Summit on Saturday.
The six-foot-five guard shot 12-for-23 and added five assists to lead the World Team, coached by Roy Rana, the men’s coach at Ryerson University.
The victory was the fourth straight for the World squad.
The annual Hoop Summit pits the top high school players in the U.S. against the top high schoolers from around the world. Past players include Kevin Garnett, Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, John Wall, Dirk Nowitzki, and Tony Parker.
Canadian star Andrew Wiggins of Vaughan, Ont., led scoring with 20 points in the 2012 game. Trey Lyles of Saskatoon had a game-high 11 rebounds last year.
