Two North Okanagan-Shuswap school district properties up for sale
VERNON – The North Okanagan-Shuswap School District is putting two of its properties up for sale.
The first is the former board office in Salmon Arm, which will be listed for $800,000, and the other is the old South Canoe School, on the market for $500,000. Board of Education chair Bobbi Johnson says Colliers International has been brought on to handle the sale, and she doesn’t think there will be much trouble finding buyers.
“We’ve had quite a few people ask us about the board office, wondering when we’ll put it out there. Not so many for South Canoe, but it’s a nice piece of property so I don’t think we’ll have any problems,” Johnson says.
South Canoe School closed down more than ten years ago, Johnson says, and has been used off and on for various district programs. The old board office was replaced with the District Education Centre in 2015.
Proceeds from the sale will go towards investments at other facilities, Johnson says.
“The government says when you sell a property, it has to go to capital projects,” Johnson says. “We have a list of things that need to be done.”
