‘The Bachelor Canada’ down to eight ladies seeking athlete’s heart

TORONTO – The battle for Brad’s heart is ramping up.

Brad Smith, the first star of “The Bachelor Canada,” ditched twice as many ladies as he was expected to in the reality show’s third episode.

The beefy former football player said farewell to four bachelorettes including 26-year-old Sophie from Moncton, N.B.; 27-year-old Michelle B. of Newmarket, Ont.; 25-year-old Nicole of St. Thomas, Ont.; and 25-year-old Tia of Ottawa.

Smith said he wanted to spend more quality time with the eight suitors he was more certain about, including a virginal pastor and a Kim Kardasian look-alike who used to date NBA forward Kris Humphries.

Next week, Smith is expected to take one lucky bachelorette to Paris.

“The Bachelor Canada” airs Wednesdays on Citytv.
