Orioles’ game in Baltimore vs. White Sox postponed because of safety concerns

BALTIMORE – The Baltimore Orioles’ home game at Camden Yards has been postponed because of safety concerns.

The Orioles announced the decision about a half-hour before the scheduled start Monday night against the Chicago White Sox.

Rioters have looted stores and thrown rocks and bricks at Baltimore police in the wake of the mysterious spinal injury of Freddie Gray, who died in police custody. The epicenter of the protests is less than a mile from the ballpark.

About 1,000 fans were inside the stadium when the game was called off, and many gates already had been closed.
