Former Pennsylvania boxing commissioner accelerating plans to renovate Ali’s boyhood home

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A former Pennsylvania state boxing commissioner is accelerating stalled plans to renovate Muhammad Ali’s boyhood home in Kentucky.

George Bochetto recently acquired half interest in the small frame house in Louisville. The Philadelphia lawyer said Friday he hopes work starts next month to transform the abandoned house to how it looked in the 1950s. That includes restoring the pink paint on the outside.

Bochetto and his partner, Jared Weiss of Las Vegas, are drawing on the memory of Ali’s brother, who endorses the project.

Rahman Ali on Friday recalled wrestling with his brother in the house but not boxing with him. He says their parents wouldn’t allow it.

Bochetto says he and his partner will cover the expenses.

Muhammad Ali and his wife, Lonnie, haven’t commented publicly on the project.
