Strides to End Homelessness takes to Kelowna streets
FUNDRAISER BEGINS AND ENDS IN FRONT OF GOSPEL MISSION
KELOWNA – Walk or run, it’s your choice at the fifth annual Strides to End Homelessness this weekend.
Kelowna’s primary men’s emergency homeless shelter is looking to raise $35,000 this year to support of both its programs for both men and women.
The programs are “biblically based” and include life skills, anger management, emotional intelligence and boundaries, as well volunteer work at the mission’s shelter and thrift store.
One 10-year-old boy has raised over $1,000 race organizer Sonja Menyes says, including $100 of his own birthday money.
The walk begins and ends in front of the Kelowna Gospel Mission emergency shelter at 259 Leon Ave.
Participants can walk 5k or run 10k with registration at 4 p.m. and event starting at 5 p.m, Saturday, March 5. Organizers are promising a chili dinner at the finish line for all participants.
You can sign up to be a sponsored runner and collect pledges at the Gospel Mission website.
