The Everett Silvertips took the win after a double-overtime battle against the Penticton Vees as they hold their lead in the western conference finals.
Penticton’s tying goal with less than a minute in the third period kept the game alive, but the Silvertips came out with a strong offensive push in overtime.
In nearly 27 minutes of extra time, Penticton goalie Andrew Reyelts stopped 23 shots compared to just seven on the Everett net. Everett pocketed the game-winning goal after more than 86 minutes of hockey, ending the game during second overtime.
The Silvertips have two back-to-back wins against the Vees as they head back to Penticton for game three of the WHL western conference finals.
It’s Penticton’s inaugural season in the league and they’ll head to the WHL finals if they can take four wins against Everett, who led the league in the regular season.
The puck drops in Penticton at 7:05 p.m., Monday, April 27. Game four goes tomorrow at the same time also at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
