LAKE PLACID, Fla. – Authorities say a semitrailer collided with a school bus in Florida, sending at least four students to the hospital.
Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Gregory Bueno says 39 students were on the Highlands County school bus Wednesday morning when it was rear-ended by the truck near Lake Placid.
Bueno says two students were flown to a Tampa hospital with serious injuries. He said at least two other students and the bus driver were hospitalized with less-serious injuries.
A police report says the bus had stopped to allow students to board, and its lights were flashing when it was hit by the semi.
Troopers said the bus was pushed over onto its left side.
