Kamloops mattress thief returns stolen property to Penny Pinchers

KAMLOOPS – The story of a Kamloops mattress thief has a happy ending after the suspect returned the stolen property to Penny Pinchers on the North Shore.

“I just think it’s turned out kind of well,” manager Gwen McKay says. “It’s not even open, it’s still in the plastic."

After the theft on March 7, managers took to the store's Facebook page to share images and video of the theft in a public appeal for more information on the suspect.

McKay says in the note the suspect apologized for his behaviour and asks managers to forgive him, which she says they will.

"We now know the name of the suspect and are working with the RCMP," the Facebook post says. No word if any charges will be laid.

In the meantime the mattress will be donated to Ask Wellness this afternoon, March 11.

“It works out for everybody,” McKay says.
