Man who pleaded guilty to indecent act on plane receives probation, discharge

HALIFAX – A man who pleaded guilty to committing an indecent act on an Air Canada flight has been given 18 months’ probation and a conditional discharge.

Jason George Chase appeared in Dartmouth provincial court today for the hearing.

Chase had pleaded not guilty to the charge, but changed his plea to guilty and waived his right to a trial.

Alicia Elizabeth Lander had also pleaded not guilty to committing indecent act, assaulting a police officer, committing an act of mischief and causing a disturbance, but was convicted of all charges last month.

The pair were charged after flight crew said they saw them engage in what appeared to be mutual masturbation as the flight headed from Toronto to Halifax Stanfield International Airport last Jan. 24.
