Anti-Ajax turns nasty with vandalism at TRU ahead of mine talk tonight
LANGUAGE ADVISORY
KAMLOOPS – RCMP are investigating after an anti-Ajax message was spray painted at Thompson Rivers University ahead of a meeting tonight on the controversial mine hosted by the City of Kamloops.
Along with the graffiti on the steps near the Campus Activity Centre, TRU staff discovered one of the building's doors was broken last night, March 17.
University spokesperson Christopher Seguin says acts of vandalism on campus are taken seriously and says RCMP are investigating.
“Incidents like this are rare, but we take each one of them very seriously,” Seguin says.
City council is hosting a community meeting in the Activity Centre tonight to look at the findings from its review of the Ajax Mine application.
The special council meeting is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
