Live video app Meerkat to share front-row view of Florida Georgia Line during CMT Music Awards

The mobile video-streaming application Meerkat is providing a front-row peek at one of the nominees performing during Wednesday’s telecast of the CMT network’s annual music awards.

Viacom Inc.’s CMT is allowing Meerkat to stream Florida George Line while the country-music duo performs a new song, “Anything Goes.” The different perspective is part of a promotion with Pepsico’s Mountain Dew.

Florida Georgia Line is nominated for two other songs, “Dirt” and “Sun Daze.”

Meerkat’s live feed will be distributed on CMT’s Twitter and Facebook accounts. Mountain Dew plans to retweet the links. The video will be available for a week after the performance.

The CMT Awards will air live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

The corporate sponsorship is a first for Meerkat, which is competing against Twitter’s Periscope app to create new ways for people to broadcast what’s happening around them.
