Blue Jays’ Gibbons, first base coach ejected early in Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas – Toronto manager John Gibbons and first base coach Tim Leiper have been ejected during separate arguments in the Blue Jays’ game at Texas.

Leiper was the first to get tossed, saying something to crew chief Dale Scott that led to his ejection in the third inning on Sunday. The pair had a heated argument after Leiper was ejected.

Gibbons was thrown out in the bottom of the third after plate umpire Dan Iassogna thought Toronto starter Aaron Sanchez yelled at him after a close pitch to Rougned Odor was called a ball.

Iassogna moved away from the plate and stared at Sanchez, who said he was talking to himself. Catcher Russell Martin stepped in front of the umpire as Gibbons came onto the field. The manager was ejected soon after he started talking to Iassogna.
