Search is on for missing paddleboarder on Okanagan Lake near Vernon

Vernon RCMP officers and local search and rescue volunteers resumed the search for a missing paddleboarder on Okanagan Lake near Vernon this morning.

Police were notified of a “marine incident” at around 7 p.m. yesterday, Sept. 22, on Okanagan Lake, according to an RCMP media release.

A man and a woman on paddleboards were reported in distress between Fintry Provincial Park on the west side of the lake and Carr’s Landing in Lake Country on the east side.

A Kelowna Fire Rescue boat involved in the search rescued the woman but there was no sign of the man.

Vernon Search and Rescue volunteers resumed the search of the water and surrounding area looking for the missing man.
