Visitation held Sunday for slain Edmonton officer

EDMONTON – People had the chance to pay their respects on Sunday to the Edmonton police officer who was killed last week.

Public visitation for Const. Daniel Woodall was held at an Edmonton funeral home _ his funeral will be held on Wednesday.

Woodall was shot and killed June 8 while trying to serve an arrest warrant.

Norman Raddatz fired shots through his front door, killing Woodall and wounding another officer.

Raddatz later shot himself.

Police say they had been investigating Raddatz for anti-Semitic bullying of an Edmonton man and his family.

A funeral procession for Woodall is to start Wednesday morning at the Alberta legislature and end at the Shaw Conference Centre with a public service.

Woodall, 35, worked in the police department’s hate-crimes unit and was the father of two young sons.

Blue ribbons have been tied to trees and posts in the city in his honour.
